Tendong Hill
Tendong Hill is at an altitude of 8,530 feet (???? meters) and is surrounded by lush greenery with panoramic views of the Bengal plains and the Himalayan range.
Tendong means ‘upraised horn’ and legend has it that this hill miraculously emerged from the ground to save the Lepchas during a great flood. Till date, Lepchas perform prayers and rituals atop the hill especially before monsoon to avert any natural calamities. Historically, this serene hill has been a meditation destination for Buddhist lamas (monks).
A short trek spanning a few hours from Damthang Bazaar to Tendong Hill and then to Namchi is recommended.
