Samdruptse and Solophok
The Samdruptse Hill (literal translation: Wish Fulfilling Well) has the gigantic statue of Guru Padmasambhava or Guru Rimpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim on the top. This bronze toned statue is 135 feet (41 meters) tall and a sight to behold. It was opened to visitors in 2004 and the foundation of the statue was laid by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The Samdruptse is about 7 kilometers (4.4 miles) from Namchi. The admission to this attraction is Rs. 10/5 for Indian adult/child and Rs. 50/10 for foreigner adult/child.
Apart from taking a taxi back, an option would be to walk down back to Namchi vai The Namchi Rock Garden at the base of the Samdruptse Hill. Yet another interesting option would be walk down the Samdruptse towards the Ngadak Gompa (established 1717) and admire its stone carved pillars and old Tibetan style wall paintings.
