Borong and Borong Tsa Chu

Borong is a small picturesque village facing the mountains. It is reachable by land and is about 33 kilometers (20.5 miles) from Ravangla. Borong is also en route while undertaking the 5-6 day trek from Namchi or Damthang - Tendong - Ravangla - Meanam - Borong. One has the option of ending this trek either at Borong or continuing to Tashiding.

Borong is also home to the hot sulfur spring Borong Tsa Chu which is about 45 minutes downhill walk from Borong to the banks of the river Rangeet.

  • Foreigners must be in a group of 4 or more to visit Borong and other restricted places.

How to get there (transport)

  • Approved local travel and tour agents provide transportation and treks to Borong.
  • The trek from Maenam Hill to Borong takes about 3 to 4 hours covering a distance of roughly 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).
  • It approximately takes 1 to 2 hours to reach Borong from Ravangla.
  • It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Borong from Gangtok.
