Thangu
Thangu is at an elevation of approximately 14,000 feet (4,267 meters) and about 3 hours drive from Lachen. This is a small village where visitors usually acclimatize before proceeding to the Guru Dongmar Lake or Tso Lhamu (the source of the river Teesta) and treks to Chopta Valley.
Thangu is transformed into a riot of colors during springtime as it becomes carpeted with wild flowers. However, during winter it becomes quite inhospitable as it is covered with snow.
